Purpose
Started in 2015, the University of Connecticut (UConn) Chapter of the Kidney Disease Screening and Awareness Program (KDSAP) carries out a mission of educating the public about kidney disease, organizing free screenings for underserved communities, and generating interest in nephrology as a specialty among undergraduate pre-medical students. Additionally, members of KDSAP are introduced to basic clinical skills while being integral components to a nationwide effort to combat chronic kidney disease.

Like the first image, this is a photo taken with some of our members after a hard day of screening individuals. At UConn KDSAP, not only do we want to assist with public health efforts but we also want to make sure our members learn and have a good time improving the lives of those around them.
What we've done
What we've done
UConn KDSAP has hosted free public health screenings in multiple towns, including Willimantic, Hartford, and New Haven, Connecticut. These screenings allow individuals to know if they are at increased risk for kidney disease. Click on the "screenings" section under events to learn more about our screening process. If you would like to sign your organization/community up for a health screening, please use the link on the bottom of the page!
